Dawn at Bodh Gaya: Birth of Wisdom

In 528 BC, under the moonlight of Bodh Gaya in ancient India, Prince Siddhartha sat under a Bhala tree for seven days and seven nights before becoming a Buddha. The fruit of this sacred tree, which bears witness to enlightenment, is given the name “Bodhi Son”, symbolizing the ultimate state of cutting off trouble and achieving wisdom. Legend has it that the milky resin exuded from the bark congealed into jade, the earliest white jade bodhi, which the Buddha gave to his disciples, symbolizing “no self” and “Nirvana”.
